My gram has been suffering from Alzheimer's for the better part of four years now.  Words and names no longer come easily to her.  Her own children have become perfect strangers at times.

For Christmas a few years ago, I made my gram a book of photographs that I collected from her house.  Many were of my grandpa whom we lost prematurely 57 years ago.  My grandpa and gram shared a storybook life together, so losing him was nothing short of devastating for my gram.

The minute she opened the book to the pages of photographs of her and my grandpa, her eyes welled with tears.  The memories came flooding back.  She was with him again in that moment.
